    I love love your Lucent-C Serum. I have used many L-ascorbic acid serums over the years, but now yours is my favorite!
    It applies easily and absorbs well, and has an amazing price point. The only minor issue I have with it is when the contents get low, it is hard to pump out the serum without making a mess all over the pump head.
    I do appreciate the packaging in general, though. And for all its positives, I will keep repurchasing.

    I tried the Naturium Vitamin C Complex and liked it. I emailed the company to find out the percent of Vitamin C in the product. Tneir response was that the percentage of ingredients in tneir products is proprietary. Is it important to know the percent of Vitamin C in a Vitamin C product? I finished the Naturium and ordered your Prequel. I'm using it now and like it, too.

That’s where the Vanicream came into my life and I really like it! I use their facial moisturizer and facial moisturizer with SPF too and they are all so good! I’m one of the few who doesn’t like the cleanser I guess. Strange texture and it’s drying. I love your Prequel Gleanser though! My absolute favorite ever.

    I’ve tried a lot of LAA serums and reacted to them all. The Budget Derm also recommends THD ascorbate for sensitive skin types so I’ve started using it with no reactivity. So far I’ve used The Ordinary and Vanicream. I don’t love the texture of The Ordinary’s and it’s a bit too oily to wear under makeup, but it’s something like 20% THD compared to vanicream’s 5%. So I used Vanicream on days I wear makeup and The Ordinary on days I don’t! Both are really affordable. Hope this helps someone.

      On some ingredient libraries (incidecoder, paula's choice, cosdna) there are two types of gold. If it's listed as just gold, it will just be described as a colorant and/or possible irritant. Colloidal gold can be described as a preservative, solvent, or antimicrobial.

    Hi Dr. Ellis, question about Vitamin C. I heard on a science podcast that L-ascorbic acid is basically useless because it’s water soluble and therefore can’t absorb into your skin - that you would need to use a lipid soluble Vitamin C in order for it to actually absorb into the skin. This sounds like a logical argument, but also completely contradicts what I normally hear from dermatologists praising L-ascorbic acid. Any chance you could provide clarification on this issue?

    • @db-gb5xi
      @db-gb5xi Месяц назад

      In the meantime, I might check out Dr. Idriss' videos on vit c (she has several) discussing the different vit c derivatives and how they are supposed to work (oil soluble, water soluble, etc).

    • @Lau.mp4
      @Lau.mp4 Месяц назад

      @@db-gb5xi Thanks for the rec! Just watched the video and it had some great info. I guess I’m still confused though as to why anyone would use L-ascorbic acid over a lipid-soluble option like THD ascorbate. Unless I misunderstood, in her video it sounded like she said THD ascorbate (which is what I use) absorbs into the skin better than L-ascorbic acid and then is converted into L-ascorbic acid once it’s absorbed. So it sounds like THD ascorbate gives the same benefits as L-ascorbic acid but uses a better vehicle to do so. Add to that the fact that THD ascorbate is more stable and gentler than L-ascorbic acid, I guess I’m still not understanding why L-ascorbic acid would be the go-to Vitamin C option for anyone. There could be factors at play that I’m missing, but for now I’m still confused.

    • @DrSamEllis
      @DrSamEllis  Месяц назад +4

      Luckily clinical studies have been performed on human skin with l-ascorbic acid and it does get into tissue! There are so many things that determine skin penetration besides lipid vs water solubility. 😊
