    I’ve developed rosacea in my mid 40’s. I have been using the Prequel Lucent C for about 5 months now and it’s been great! I appreciate the quality of your brand and affordability! 😊

    I love love your Lucent-C Serum. I have used many L-ascorbic acid serums over the years, but now yours is my favorite!
    It applies easily and absorbs well, and has an amazing price point. The only minor issue I have with it is when the contents get low, it is hard to pump out the serum without making a mess all over the pump head.
    I do appreciate the packaging in general, though. And for all its positives, I will keep repurchasing.

    Once I entered menopause, my L Ascorbic acid no longer worked. I love DRMTLGY's C5x lotion, it has five types of vitamin C, including THD Ascorbate, absorbs well, and is reasonably priced. I love it and have used it for years.

    I didn’t have a problem with L-ascorbic acid until I did. I somehow became sensitized to a popular vitamin C and some products including fragrance all of a sudden. Thank you for offering solutions for us sensitive types who want to take advantage of vitamin C!

    I’ve tried a lot of LAA serums and reacted to them all. The Budget Derm also recommends THD ascorbate for sensitive skin types so I’ve started using it with no reactivity. So far I’ve used The Ordinary and Vanicream. I don’t love the texture of The Ordinary’s and it’s a bit too oily to wear under makeup, but it’s something like 20% THD compared to vanicream’s 5%. So I used Vanicream on days I wear makeup and The Ordinary on days I don’t! Both are really affordable. Hope this helps someone.

    I tried the Naturium Vitamin C Complex and liked it. I emailed the company to find out the percent of Vitamin C in the product. Tneir response was that the percentage of ingredients in tneir products is proprietary. Is it important to know the percent of Vitamin C in a Vitamin C product? I finished the Naturium and ordered your Prequel. I'm using it now and like it, too.

  • @chariots8x230

    Even the Vitamin C serums that are made for sensitive skin still have people reporting irritation. Since my skin is very sensitive, I looked for Vitamin C alternatives, and someone recommended these:
    *1.* Ubiquinone (CoQ10)
    *2.* Pycnogenol
    *3.* Alpha Arbutin
    When combined together, they might offer the different benefits that Vitamin C offers.
    I’d really love to find a Vitamin C serum (or an alternative to it) that is made for super sensitive & reactive skin. It seems like I can’t find anything that is made for very sensitive skin like mine. Also, a lot of skincare products have hyaluronic acid added to them, which is very irritating to my skin, since it severely dries out my skin. I need something with very gentle ingredients that is made for truly sensitive skin, and doesn’t contain unnecessary/problematic ingredients like hyaluronic acid.

    Hi Dr. Ellis, question about Vitamin C. I heard on a science podcast that L-ascorbic acid is basically useless because it’s water soluble and therefore can’t absorb into your skin - that you would need to use a lipid soluble Vitamin C in order for it to actually absorb into the skin. This sounds like a logical argument, but also completely contradicts what I normally hear from dermatologists praising L-ascorbic acid. Any chance you could provide clarification on this issue?

    • @db-gb5xi
      @db-gb5xi 5 месяцев назад

      In the meantime, I might check out Dr. Idriss' videos on vit c (she has several) discussing the different vit c derivatives and how they are supposed to work (oil soluble, water soluble, etc).

    • @Lau.mp4
      @Lau.mp4 5 месяцев назад

      @@db-gb5xi Thanks for the rec! Just watched the video and it had some great info. I guess I’m still confused though as to why anyone would use L-ascorbic acid over a lipid-soluble option like THD ascorbate. Unless I misunderstood, in her video it sounded like she said THD ascorbate (which is what I use) absorbs into the skin better than L-ascorbic acid and then is converted into L-ascorbic acid once it’s absorbed. So it sounds like THD ascorbate gives the same benefits as L-ascorbic acid but uses a better vehicle to do so. Add to that the fact that THD ascorbate is more stable and gentler than L-ascorbic acid, I guess I’m still not understanding why L-ascorbic acid would be the go-to Vitamin C option for anyone. There could be factors at play that I’m missing, but for now I’m still confused.

      Luckily clinical studies have been performed on human skin with l-ascorbic acid and it does get into tissue! There are so many things that determine skin penetration besides lipid vs water solubility. 😊

    Do you have recommendations for vitamin C alternatives? I tried vanicream vitamin C and my skin did not like it. Usually love your recommendations for sensitive skin though!

      Same here… no matter what I try, my skin just does not like vit C in any form. I’ve also found Dr. Ellis to be extremely helpful with ultra sensitive skin and rosacea recommendations!

      Someone recommended these ingredients as topical Vitamin C alternatives:
      *1.* Ubiquinone (CoQ10)
      *2.* Pycnogenol
      *3.* Alpha Arbutin
      You might have to combine them together to get the different benefits of Vitamin C though.

    Wonderful, thank you very much Dr. Ellis.
    More and more people have sensitive skin due to lifestyle, allergies or environmental pollution. And it's nice to offer them an option for antiaging products as well. I have heard so many good things about your own product line Prequel. I would like to try several products, but I live in Europe. Is there a way to buy the products?

    Dr Sam, if you say your product contains L Ascorbic acid and the final PH of your product is 3.2 which is acidic, how then are you formulating it with niacinamide which has a PH of 7. It’s not adding up. This is not an effective formula you have there. If you are in doubt, Google it.

    Thank you for all the recommendations. My big question is do any of these vitamin C’s have the hot dog smell. I purchased timeless, vitamin C, and I’m very sensitive to smells, and I could not stand to use it on my face because of the smell. So basically, I wasted my money, I haven’t purchased another one since because I don’t know what they smell like. Any suggestions would be welcome.

      Anything with THD (instead of l-ascorbic) won’t have that smell!
